TSAT has had an interesting history behind it. At first, it was just a little "I can do it better" sprite comic, trying something new that hadn't been done before: Doom backgrounds. I had an old level for Doom that I had made a couple years before, so I decided to pick up the bodies, monsters, and most of the items to give myself something useful to work with. My level was very crude, but it passed well for what it was supposed to do. And that was to provide a 3-D background.
I had a stupid idea that I've run through two times before, why don't we stick one of my characters into Tails' body for some dumb reason? The confusion and conflict would flare up quick before we even get to see the enemy. Immediately I got the name of the comic from this strange event, based on the movie title "There's Something about Mary." Which, by the way, I still haven't seen in its entirety.
I posted this strange concept onto the MFZ forums, hoping to see what kind of recognition I can get for the new ideas. I was not a member of the MFZ at the time, just a regular forum goer. After a few crude pages in MS-Paint (which I still use for the comics to this day), it received relatively positive reviews. After a few events on the forum I was granted hosting permissions right on the MFZ as it had developed into quite a thriller at about page 44. The comic has continued since -- there may have been two delays for six months each, both for different reasons that I'd rather not disclose, but the comic is now being regularly updated.
The universe has been expanded considerably because the scope of the story just plain demanded it, which is why I started the website in the first place.
Please enjoy what thousands of others have already. I've had just as much fun making it. :)
